Skip to main content- Why should I apply to DGP?
-
Make an impact! Gain skills! By applying for and carrying out a DGP project, you’ll be honing skills such as grant writing, project management, and group facilitation.
-
- What sort of projects do you accept?
-
We don't look for a specific format of project – as long as your project meets our guidelines (listed on the main DGP page), we'll consider it! We also have a page with examples of past projects, as well as a sample agenda that you can refer to in your application process.
-
- Do I need to have experience in DIBE topics to apply?
-
While you don’t need formal DIBE experience to apply, we will prioritize applications that demonstrate an understanding of DIBE efforts.
-
- Do I need to have facilitation experience to apply?
-
No, but experience with facilitation or group leadership (e.g. as a TA, camp counselor, etc.) is strongly encouraged. If you are interested in strengthening your intergroup dialogue facilitation skills, consider enrolling in Psych 103F (students) or STARS: Train the Trainer (staff and faculty), both of which are offered through our office.
-
- What can I use DGP funds for?
-
Funds may be used for direct costs related to the proposed project, such as food or catering, supplies (printouts, books, etc.) and room rentals. Funds may not be used for alcohol, speaker honoraria, equipment purchases, personal stipends, merchandise, raffles, or transportation expenses.
-
- How much funding can I expect to receive?
-
Up to $300 if applying alone and up to $500 if applying as part of a group of two or more people.
-
- Can I combine DGP funding with other sources of funding?
-
Yes, but your project (or a portion of it) must still fulfill DGP project requirements.
-
- Who should be the participants?
-
We encourage you to engage community members from your student organizations, department, cohort, lab residences, classes, friend groups, etc. We also encourage publicizing the event more widely to attract any member of the Stanford community.
-
- What support will the IBIC office offer me throughout the project process?
-
We can offer support by providing feedback on project outlines, booking space on campus and purchasing materials and/or food.
-
- Will IBIC staff attend or facilitate my proposed project?
-
No, IBIC staff will not attend, lead or facilitate any portion of your project.
-
- Can I apply more than once?
-
You can apply once per quarter until your project is successfully accepted. You can only receive the grant once per academic year.
